Suppose public education is compulsory and you are required by law to daily send your child to an institution that teaches witchcraft, evolution as fact rather than theory, and forces participation in playacting programs which instruct children how to engage in sex. You could opt to send your child to a religious institution instead, except religious institutions are required to teach the same curriculum.
