SALEM, OREGON: Two days after Senate Democrats claimed they would not seek a ban on modern firearms and feeding devices, Democrats in the Oregon House introduced just that.

Seven Senators joined with eight House Reps to introduce a sweeping ban on virtually all modern firearms. Among the Senators is, of course, Ginny Burdick, who claimed on Wednesday “

Are Christians just supposed to obey government, regardless?

Reblogged from The Brenner Brief:

I went at your bidding, and passed along their thoroughfares of trade. I ascended their mountains and went down their valleys. I visited their manufactories, their commercial markets, and emporiums of trade. I entered their judicial courts and legislative halls. But I sought everywhere in vain for the secret of their success, until I entered the church. It was there, as I listened to the soul-equalizing and soul-elevating principles of the Gospel of Christ, as they fell from Sabbath to Sabbath upon the masses of the people, that I learned why…

23 executive orders — the full list

None of it would have prevented Sandy Hook, or Fort Hood, or Aurora, or Gabby Giffords… but having the children there makes nice theater when you’re setting the stage to violate the Constitution and infringe on the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Never let a crisis go to waste.

23 executive orders -- the full list

Reblogged from The Brenner Brief:

The following is a list, provided by the White House, of executive actions President Obama plans to take to address gun violence.

1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.

2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.

Gut check: why the founders wanted us to be allowed to own guns

Reblogged from The Brenner Brief:

The following quotes by the authors of the Second Amendment, their contemporaries, various state and federal courts, and others should be useful in the debate over whether that amendment protects a right of individuals or only the military. The Second Amendment states: "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

Timely when you consider the President and Vice President have purposed going so far as to issue an Executive Order to bypass the Constitution and our fundamental rights as citizens of the United States. The ability to defend yourself is essential to liberty.

Newtown massacre was 18th mass murder event in 2012: What's going wrong, and is there hope? Notes from my Fox interview.

Reblogged from Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog:

UPDATED: You can watch the video of the Fox News interview by clicking here.

I'm grateful to Fox News Channel anchor Shannon Bream for interviewing me on the air this afternoon to talk about the moral and spiritual dimensions of the Newtown massacre. These are not topics that have been discussed much in the media despite wall-to-wall coverage of the tragedy since Friday.

I have been thinking many of these things myself. I have especially been thinking how we want answers on how to avert such tragedies. The answer is right in front of us. God's Word contains the answers we so desperately need. And yet, people will scoff if you tell them this. As if doing it the way we've been doing it has been so successful. As if more legislation will somehow remove the evil that resides in every man's heart.

Pro-Choice...But Anti-Abortion?? Nice Try!

Reblogged from :

I’m personally against grand theft auto…but I believe in the right of others to decide for themselves whether or not they want to steal cars.  I wouldn’t do it myself, but I believe it should be safe and legal for anyone who makes that choice.  Ok, so if someone steals a car…someone else is out a car.  I get it.  But who am I to take away the choice of the person who feels he needs the car worse than the owner?

Excellent commentary on the hypocrisy of "I think abortion is wrong. I'd certainly never have one. But you shouldn't to take away a woman's right to choose."

Cabinet Doors Flung Open: First, Hillary Clinton

From TheBrennerBrief.com:

As Secretary of State Hillary Clinton prepares to step down, how will history judge her performance? As the President’s principal advisor on U.S. foreign policy, she carries out the President’s foreign policy through the State Department and Foreign Service of the United States. She is tasked with advising the President on the appointment, recall and dismissal of U.S. ambassadors, ministers, consuls and other diplomats; personally participating in, or directing U.S. representatives to, international conferences, organizations and agencies; ensuring the protection of the U.S. Government to American citizens, property and interest in foreign countries; informing Congress and American citizens on the conduct of U.S. Foreign Relations; and negotiating, interpreting and terminating treaties and agreements, among other things.

Her acceptance of the position was a surprise to many, considering it meant working under the political rival who defeated her in the 2008 Democratic Primary. At the time, Barack Obama disparaged her “lack” of foreign policy experience and castigated the press for its failure to thoroughly investigate her claims to the contrary. There was a general sense that this cabinet appointment was sure to provide a generous amount of tension and fireworks. But those expectations never materialized. Instead, Clinton has proven to be extremely loyal to Obama’s foreign policy vision.

In September of 2010, she created the Global…
